Description
Explore a wine cellar in Montepulciano with this tasting and tour. See rows of large oak barrels full of aging wine and learn about how it is made. Taste three local wines alongside pecorino cheese, Tuscan salami, and bruschetta. A small group size offers an intimate atmosphere.
Respecting the philosophy of great red wines, and the terms defined for the aging in wood here we find rows of enormous Slavonian oak barrels, perfectly conserved, where lie thousands of hectolitres of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and other rows with dozens of tonneaux and barrique barrels made of quality French wood. In the other areas of the historic cellar one is pushed and squeezed gradually into the buried depths of the sandy tufa to penetrate into the twilight, suggestive paths of tunnels have been created from which fossils have been found denoting its very ancient origins.
- Visit an authentic wine cellar full of aging wines
- Learn about the winemaking process in Montepulciano
- Raise a glass to taste three local wines alongside snacks

This tour was fascinating and our guide/ sommelier was extremely knowledgeable. There is so much history and this is one of the oldest, or likely it is the oldest winery in the world! Our wine tasting was very enjoyable and we ended up purchasing a case to be shipped home! Emilio was a great host for this experience. Highly recommend this wine cellar tour and the wine!
